What: Field demonstration, tour, and discussion about woody encroachment management of pastures and grasslands.
Who: SDSU Extension, Pheasants Forever, and Southeast Dakota Prescribed Burn Association
When: Thursday, August 27th at 5:30-7:30PM
Where: Todd Knutson farm located just north of the intersection of Hwy 81 and the James River (about 10 miles north of Yankton).

A light supper will be served
We have completed prescribed fires on Todd’s pastures in 2025 and 2026 and will be able to demonstrate the long term and short term effects of fire on this amazing native grassland overlooking the scenic James River Valley. We will also have some field identification of the grasses and forbs on this native prairie.
