Prescribed Burn School – Gatesville, TX – June 2026

Join the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service for a comprehensive 3-day Prescribed Burn School designed for landowners, fire professionals, and agency personnel seeking in-depth training in prescribed fire planning and implementation.

This course adheres to the Texas Department of Agriculture’s (TDA) 24-hour curriculum and meets the training requirement for those pursuing certification as a Certified and Insured Prescribed Burn Manager (CIPBM).

Participants will receive hands-on experience in fire behavior, weather interpretation, planning, ignition techniques, and post-burn evaluation.

When conditions permit, multiple prescribed burns will be conducted, providing valuable field experience alongside experienced instructors and burn professionals.

This training is ideal for:

  • Landowners and land managers interested in using prescribed fire as a management tool,
  • Fire department personnel and emergency responders,
  • Municipal, county, and agency staff involved in land or resource management,
